The Beginning

In a city that seems to change every day, one building has been a fixture in downtown Houston since 1915. Now, that building has been transformed into a modern, stylish, desirable living community. Live in a timeless slice of Houston history, The Star.

  • 1913

The original wing was designed by the New York firm of Warren & Wetmore, also responsible for Manhattan’s 1913 Grand Central Terminal and a number of upscale hotels and residential buildings.

  • 1915

The Star incorporates an initial 13-story structure.

  • 1958

A 1936 annex and 16-story addition completed. The façade of brick, terra cotta and Bedford limestone, as well as the signature, grand limestone arcades with Tuscan columns along Rusk, were replicated with the 1958 addition by noted architect Kenneth Franzheim, who began his career in Chicago, Boston and New York before relocating to Houston in the 1930s.

  • 1959

The building was built for The Texas Company, which became Texaco.

  • 1989

Texaco occupied the building until now.

  • 2013

Provident Realty Advisors commenced its multi-family conversion in 2013 with Memphis and San Diego based architectural firm HBG Design.
